Why five days at altitude resets your voltage

Your mitochondria, the power plants in every cell, operate in an electrical field on the order of 30 million volts per meter. Nothing fancy. This is not a resort, and I won't dress it up as one. Comfort is the thing you're detoxing from. A secluded tiny home at the bottom of the land, 500 feet from where I live. Two-piece bath inside, outdoor kitchenette and hot-and-cold shower, cacao and avocado around you, a putting green out front for barefoot grounding.

Meeting you where your body is

The training ground

Here's the honest truth about the hikes: not everyone summits MaunaKea at 13,803 feet, and you don't have to. The real training happens on the gravel-and-lava road here at 1,000 feet. The surface is uneven on purpose, ideal preparation for the far more uneven trails higher up. About 250 feet of climb over two miles, run or hiked, as many times as your body earns.

From there we go up as far as your body is ready. Some reach the summit region. Everyone trains meaningfully. The volcano is the ceiling, not the entry fee.

And if a knee or hip flares, the SCENAR is right there to support recovery. A group retreat can't stop and do that. This one can, because it's only you.

Food I prepare myself

The table

Your meals aren't catered in. I prepare and cook them. I'm a genuinely good cook, and across your five days I prepare food tuned to your protocol: exclusively organic, vegetarian optional, with local fish or island-grown beef, Mediterranean style, when your body calls for it, and my home-grown raw cacao and greens.

The water matters too. Carbon-filtered, hydrogen-enriched to support energy and detox as your body does the deeper work of the fast. Small physics, real difference.

The life, not just the program

You live it alongside me

Twice a week I come out of the rainforest, and you're welcome along. Thursday I have my ukulele class in Hilo. Friday I play our community farmers market, come meet the locals, or I'll drop you at a beach while I play. Once a month I host a Saturday-night open mic here on the land. I'm not teaching a longevity lifestyle from a slide deck. I'm living it at 75, and for five days you live it too.

Someone who is longevity, not who read about it

I'm not a wellness influencer after a quick buck. I'm a 75-year-old former GE development engineer who jogs, practices Ashtanga, builds off-grid structures with my hands, fasts routinely, and lives off-grid on land I cleared mostly by hand in the Big Island rainforest.

Mining Engineering at Leeds, then Development Engineer at Canadian General Electric. In 1977 I was granted the deep-sea fishing Otterboard patent. After a series of prophetic dreams I left the corporate world, spent most of a year in sixteen African countries, then homeopathy and sound. In 1987 I took over Dr. Randal Baer's Starcrest Academy, which led me to invent the DreamWeaver. I trained to master practitioner level in SCENAR microcurrent therapy.

Before you decide

I'm not outdoorsy. Is this too extreme?
You need baseline fitness, comfortable walking three to five miles, handling stairs. The training scales to you and starts on the road at 1,000 feet. Nobody is forced up to the summit.
How is the fast structured?
Around your history, not a brochure number. Already run intermittent windows? We can go to a 24 to 72 hour fast. Newer to it? We build the on-ramp with OMAD, and the SCENAR and DreamWeaver sessions support your energy through the low points.
Do I have to summit the volcano?
No. Real training happens on the road at 1,000 feet, plus lower-altitude hikes in Volcanoes National Park. Some reach the summit region at 13,803 feet; everyone trains meaningfully.
Where do I stay?

Preparing for your Vision Quest

Physical readiness

Arrive able to walk three to five miles comfortably and handle stairs without excessive fatigue. Optional pre-retreat prep: two to three weeks of daily walking or light jogging.

The sanctuary sits at 1,000 feet. The road climbs 250 feet over two miles. The summit region reaches 13,803 feet, where temperatures drop 30 to 40°F.
